I hope the proposal is tabled on this forum and not just discussed over call. Will help more people participate in it + greater transparency and accountability.
The nomination form feels strange. The first field, “give us a brief introduction to yourself” is like a single line text box !? This makes it really hard to include relevant information “about yourself, your experience, and your vision for FOSS United.”
I wrote 4 short paragraphs - one each for an intro, involvement with FOSS, involvement with FOSS United and vision. Turns out the text field in the form doesn’t take a newline… And without that it will feel weird.
I wonder if this explains why the folks who have nominated themselves till now didn’t write much. In a couple of nominations I see questions, to which they have responded with details. Ideally anybody nominating themselves must be able to enter it in the text field with the formatting they need.
Markdown would be nice but I am not asking for it now (last minute dev!). Multi-line text field should be enough. Let me know if I am missing anything.
Everywhere in the world, people love that “last date reminder”. Event CFPs, Registrations, Credit card payments - everything thrives on last date reminders. Much like that, here’s one for the FOSS United Governing Board elections!
Last day to vote. Make sure you get your votes in, on time.
We are grateful to all the candidates who put down their names, voicing their strong intent to do more for the community, to take more responsibility and help us continue the work, supporting the FOSS ecosystem in India. With around 15 candidates in the ring, this has reaffirmed our faith in the community, and we only expect this number to go up in the coming cycles.
Congratulations to the 5 who made it past the post, we are excited to unlock this new chapter for the foundation. We look forward to learning from each other in this process.
Finally the biggest thank yous to the everyone who voted! Thank you for taking out time and participating in this experiment
