Season of Commits is a program focused on

a) helping FOSS projects find contributors
b) bringing new contributors into the FOSS ecosystem
c) supporting people who are actively contributing to FOSS projects

Season of Commits participants work on a FOSS project over a multiple-week period (usually over the summer), under the guidance of maintainers and mentors. The FOSS United Foundation provides a small stipend to support the work of the participants.

The program was started in 2025, and we partnered with PyDataStruct for the inaugal season. More details [here](https://forum.fossunited.org/t/season-of-commits-2025/5960)

Season of Commits 2026 will perpetually select participants over the course of the year. There is no formal “application process” for the program and we work with projects that either reach out to us directly for supporting the work of an existing contributor, or have found potential participants through programs like [FOSSHack](https://fossunited.org/fosshack/) (See the [partner projects program](https://fossunited.org/fosshack/2026/partner-projects) for more details) .

This thread lists the participants and projects participating in Season of Commits 2026.
