Thoughts on FOSS + Community in context of FOSS United

This is a fair point, but I also think gitlab ultimate is proprietary and we shouldn’t encourage its use as a FOSS organization.

Have you explored foss alternatives such as Gitea? They also provide CI and some other features you mentioned here.

No, I haven’t. Gitlab can be replaced by an equivalent tool if it is deemed good enough. But the point stands - several important features used by larger open source projects are behind a paywall and making those available to projects in the country would be useful.

I remember @Arya_Kiran and a couple of folks from GNU Linux India Telegram group started something called tildevarsh. It was a good shared server system which used to provide hosting for basic sites and stuff. Tho the project is now dead because of no funds to pay for the server.

But that is something we could do and yes Gitea is also possible
