Analysis of FLOSS/fund database : 1 million $ in funding for FOSS projects

FLOSS/fund is a 1 Million USD fund for global open source projects. In more than 36 days since the fund was launched, only about 80 entities have applied for funding. Total requested funding is about 2.4 million USD. To me, this doesn’t seem representative of the FOSS Funding crisis. I have written an article about this. It has my analysis and some useful graphs and charts. If you care about funding and FOSS, it may be worth a read.

In general, I feel we all have projects we find useful, important and critical. If we do our bit, and if those projects need funding, then it is worth our time to ensure that they apply to the Fund. I am personally doing this by suggesting the same to some projects that I feel are important.

Feel free to leave any feedback, suggestions, or actions that you are planning to take - it’s always good to know, and we can always brainstorm.
