As you are all aware, our next Chennai Chapter monthly offline meetup is scheduled for September.
We are planning to collaborate with the Indian Linux User Group-Chennai, Kanchi LUG, Namma Flutter, and Chennai React user groups to ensure the success of this event.
This collaboration will also help us celebrate Software Freedom Day, which takes place globally every September.I’m opening this discussion to gather ideas and plan effectively.
Please feel free to share your thoughts, and let us know if you would like to contribute or volunteer in any capacity.
This is Vignesh from JSLovers, Chennai Chapter. Glad to hear you’re collaborating with other communities in and around Chennai to celebrate Software Freedom Day.
We would love to collaborate with you guys to extend our support and help in all possible ways to make this event a grand success.
Hi @Vignesh_Murugan We are happy to collaborate with you. Our only condition is that we can discuss and promote only Free and Open Source Software and Technologies. Could you please provide more details about your community’s policies and interests?
Sure @Sakhil_Ahamed ,
JSLovers is a not-for-profit Tech meetup community primarily focused on JavaScirpt and other Open Source technologies as well. We host tech meetups and workshops on JS and other Open Source technologies which are free to attend.
Yes, we can discuss and promote Free and Open Source Software and Technologies since we’re not affiliated with any Closed source software/ technologies. Our website and other projects are Open Sourced as well for any interested people to contribute to them.
Here is an update on our recent interactions and communications with various communities and volunteers:
We discussed the possibility of combining the #SFD2024 event with other Linux User groups. However, this approach did not work out. As a result, #SFD2024 will be held as a separate one-day event on September 21st at Survey Sparrow. The #TOSSconf2024 has been rescheduled to October or November and will be conducted in Tamil.
Below is the draft schedule for the #SFD2024 event:
Null and Chennai React - promoted the event in their recent meetup.
NammaFlutter - will do shoutout about the SDF2024 in all SM
Navaneeth & Vignesh - to ask their teammates to submit talks in CFP.

Sakhil will follow-up with Shakthi on the food arrangments.
Rishi is to submit CFP on Ansible.
Arun, Vignesh and Justin to do the SM promotion.
It will take attendees for 9.30 - 10.00 am to settle. Sakhil will check with Shakthi if we can setup a stall at the event place. Zide can setup a stall.

Pradeep enquired about the parking (free/paid), will the IT park need the details of attendees like email/mobile. Some companies might need attendees list a few days before and will send OTP to attendees as well. All these details needs to be confirmed with Sakthi of Survey Sparrow.
So far we’ve received 5 CFP which needs to be reviewed and confirmed. We also need CFP from different domains so attendees of all domain will get beneficial from the conference.
We also need support for teaching beginners with Linux, Thanga ayyanar will take care of it and he’ll put stalls in the morning for which he need a few volunteers support as well.
Pradeep proposed a talk on Securing of CI/CD pipelines in DevSecOps and CFP for the same will be submitted from his end.

For RSVP, Pradeep will follow-up with 3 speakers and Vignesh will follow-up with remaining 3 speakers for getting the title confirmed, their photos for flyers and PPT for presentation.
It is decided to review the PPT’s earlier to avoid any unwanted promotion of Closed source technologies as our core theme is about OSS.
