Core Team Announcement !!

We are exhilarated to announce our Core team. It has a lot of talented, hardworking, supportive and enthusiastic folks. The team consists of :

Lead - Murukesh S Kumar
Co-Lead - Myself
Designer - Anonymous
Marketer - Jenson T Rajan
Technologist - Ananthakrishnan S

This is a very compact and efficient team that we have formed. We are an odd bunch and that is why we believe this team will be extremely good at having multiple perspectives, brainstorming etc. There are a lot of things to be done and the plans for the upcoming events will follow soon. Happy to be spreading the good word of FOSS !

hello good humans of this digital space! , we were so buried in college work leading to this thread being in waiting state  …but no worries, we did some linux stunts while we were touching grass(real). did some sessions on FOSS philosophy and how to contribute to FOSS ,just spreading the good word  :person_raising_hand: … some kids were interestedd…successfully converted them to linux…i sure would make it as an insurance agent.

(got some agnostics too in the team…not gonna kill them :))

for now

yeah and then we did some blabbity blas with terminals …slid through some basic UNIX commands .luckily no one slept during the session so i would say it was a great success !!

then we went on to do some more terminal sessions…saw an increase in peeple count…giant success as well :+1:

then we did a small talk session on ollamma … i ran this baby with deepseek-coder …almost cooked my laptop  \n ofcourse that was a fun session for everyone except me

last week, a two day hadoop workshop was conducted. workshop covered hadoop stuff and yep thats pretty much about it

might cook some contests next month …

or productivity masterclass staring vim (not sure about this)

:rocket: Updates!!!

We’re thrilled to share the exciting events and sessions we’ve organized to spread the love for Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) in our college. Here’s a quick recap of what we’ve been up to:

:penguin: Introduction to Linux Series We conducted 5 hands-on sessions on Linux, covering everything from basic commands to advanced system administration. These sessions were designed to help beginners get comfortable with the Linux environment and empower them to explore the world of open-source operating systems.

:keyboard: Typing Contest Put your typing skills to the test! Our Typing Contest was a fun and competitive way to improve speed and accuracy, while also promoting the use of open-source typing tools.

:arrows_counterclockwise: Git & GitHub Workshops Multiple interactive sessions on Git and GitHub were held to teach version control, collaboration, and best practices for contributing to open-source projects. These workshops equipped participants with essential skills for modern software development.

:star2: What’s Next? Stay tuned for more workshops, hackathons, and community events. Whether you’re a newbie or a seasoned FOSS enthusiast, there’s always something exciting happening at FOSS Club CVV!

We are collaborating with wikimedia to host a technical workshop on open data before 2026 and hopefully this will lead to more open source contributions from our college .
