Welcome to GITTY UP, an exclusive event hosted by the Open Source Community at VIT-AP! This workshop is designed to introduce students to the world of Git and GitHub, essential tools for version control and collaborative software development.

Whether you’re a beginner or just looking to sharpen your skills, this session will cover everything from the basic functionalities of Git and GitHub to more advanced features like managing branches, handling pull requests, and resolving merge conflicts.

What You Will Learn:

  • Introduction to Git: What it is, why it’s important, and where it’s used.
  • GitHub Basics: Repositories, commits, and pushing changes.
  • Collaborating with GitHub: Creating and resolving issues, pull requests, and merges.
  • Best Practices for Version Control in software development.

This is a hands-on workshop, so participants are required to bring their own laptops.

Pre-requisites:

  • Basic knowledge of coding (in any language)
