FOSS ecosystem at closed source companies

Hello,

FOSS contributions from closed source companies are either

  1. company sponsored
  2. personally sponsored (on weekends)

It would be interesting to know if you work at a company whose core business does not revolve around a specific opensource software and yet they manage to contribute.

Further, if you fall in category (2), how does your work-life balance look like ? How do you ensure to stay inline with your FOSS project given your irregular schedule ?
