Resuming FOSS United Kolkata Meetups

Apologies for the lack of updates over the past few months. Due to a combination of elections, academic schedules, examinations, and other logistical constraints, we were unable to organize community meetups as planned.

We are pleased to share that things are now back on track, and we have begun preparations to resume regular FOSS United Kolkata meetups.

Current Progress

  1. The team is currently planning the next FOSS United Kolkata meetup, tentatively scheduled for late June or early July 2026.
  2. Discussions are underway with potential venue partners, and we are evaluating suitable options for hosting the event.
  3. A planning meeting was conducted on May 27th, 2026, with volunteers to discuss the roadmap for restarting activities.
  4. We also had a productive discussion with @Siddharth_Shivkumar , covering the revival of the meetup series, community growth opportunities, and ways to strengthen engagement with the broader FOSS ecosystem, including IndiaFOSS.

Community & Volunteer Initiatives

  1. We have onboarded a number of new volunteers who will be supporting community operations, outreach, and event execution.
  2. Discussions focused on establishing a sustainable cadence for meetups and rebuilding community momentum in Kolkata.

KolkataFOSS

  1. We had preliminary discussions regarding the possibility of organizing KolkataFOSS later this year.
  2. Initial conversations explored potential formats, partnerships, and opportunities for broader community involvement.
  3. Further discussions and planning will continue in the coming months, and updates will be shared as details become available.
