Internal Meet Summary (23rd Jan 2024)

Present: Kailash, Riya, Venky, Vishnu, Vinay, Vishal

1. Industry Partnership (IP)

  1. The IP deck is finalized.
  2. We will reach to existing partners and new potential partners like HDFC.
  3. A few of the venue partner of Bangalore meetups like NASDAQ were interested in partnering with us, we’ll send an email to all the previous meetup partners.
  4. @Shubham_Arora will be also pitching to list of companies under CSR budget: Microsoft, Amazon, Celebal Technologies, Zeta, Sarvam.ai, PhonePe
  5. @Athira_Girish will be coordinating with communication with the new potentials partners. Vishnu, Vinay, Venky and I will reach will reach out to the old partners. Vishal will ask Rushabh to reach out to ElasticRun for the renewal.

2. FOSS Clubs and Students Outreach

With just 12 clubs, we couldn’t help much of the student community in India in the last 5 months. With the help of current city chapters and club leads, we will start reaching out to more college with the agenda to promote FOSS through events like Linux installation party, talks, and workshops. We might call this campaign as FOSS Express. Reference - Proposal for Introducing FOSS Campaign in Schools, Colleges, and Communities. We’ll share more details about this soon.

3. Internship Program

We are planning to launch an internship program for FOSS United. It will be a self-paced learning program (on mon school), mentored by the FOSS United community of Telegram. Those students who will go through the course and complete the set of assignment. We will invite them for an interview 2/3 month paid virtual internship. To start with we are planning for the front-end roles. The technology will be same as what we use at FOSS united at the moment: HTML, Bootstrap and Javascript.

Also, this would be our last attempt to save mon.school.

4. Marketing

  1. Short Video Clips: Short Video Clips: A couple of months ago, we on-boarded @Ajzal to the team as a fellow to work on the short clips from the video contents we have, like talks and podcasts. However, currently, he is involved in the designing of platform , so we will start working on it from March.
  2. Social Media: We are working on social media design templates to post regularly about our events in an organized way. Currently, we don’t have a social media strategy.
  3. Interviews: As we attend lots of FOSS/Tech events, Vishal will start making short interviews with the people he meets during these events, focusing on FOSS and opportunities around it.

5. Team:

  1. @Ruchika: We have on-boarded Ruchika full-time to the team as an Operations and Diversity Associate, starting from January.
  2. @Harsh_Tandiya - We’ll have an interview with Harsh for a full-time job once before his internship period is over in June 2024. Currently, he is in the final year of college and working along with @mriya11 and @mangesh_x0 on the platform and other tech-related work at FOSS United.
  3. @ansh - We will have an interview with Ansh for a full-time role around August. Currently, he is in the third year of college and his college can permit him to work full-time after Aug/Sept this year. Currently, he is working with city chapter and FOSS clubs of FOSS United. Also, he will be the lead organizer of FOSS Hack and IndiaFOSS 2024.

6. Software Patent:

I will request @Venkatesh_Hariharan to post the summary on the ESP and policy-related discussions that have happened.
