Hack@SKCET is a 48 hour hackathon organized by Hack Club SKCET (Sri Krishna College of Engineering and Technology, Coimbatore) on 26th February, 2022.
We recorded more than 450+ team registrations from various years and departments. All the 453 teams submitted their ideas online. The top 20 teams were selected out of all the idea submissions after a day long scrutiny of ideas. The top 20 teams were invited to participate in the final in-person hackathon which took place in our campus for 48 hours.
In the final phase of the hackathon, all the top 20 teams were provided with mentorship in fine-tuning and implementing their ideas. We accommodated the teams in our library - one of biggest university libraries in South Asia.
Staffs and Heads of various departments frequently attended the teams and offered their expertise. 90% of our attendees were first-time hackers and had no idea about hackathons - so, we hosted a number of workshops to support the participants.
We organized some mini games to keep the participants entertained throughout the event. We also arranged some ice breaker events for teams to interact with each other.
After 48 hours of intense hacking, the teams were asked to pitch to our jury panel which consisted of industry professionals and our alumni. Our jury panel commented that all the projects were super-competitive and the scores were on a close-call. After consolidating the results, we announced the winners of our 8 prizes in the ‘closing ceremony’.
The winners were presented with certificate of merit by our Principal madam - Dr.J Janet and the heads of various departments. The prizes for the winning teams will be disbursed to the respective teams by the following weeks.
