Overall we had a super conference, we should just list out things that went well and could have been done better.
Here is my list, people can add their comments in replies, so we can go over these for the next conference.
Pre Conference
- Timing - end-July seems good - before main conference season starts post Diwali
- Venue Booking - NIMHANS was a good choice
- Website - Design could have been better
- Ticketing - Email sending was broken
- RFP - excellent response - should have asked for speaker bios
- Social media - good energy
- Sponsors - reasonable, will be better next year, now that we have a better reputation
- Community partners / outreach
- Planning - video / sound / food - more or less on time - excellent work by volunteers
- Speaker management
- Speaker support - could have sent info about the participants (Neha) -
- Speaker diversity - nothing to complain
- Labels, stickers, registration - excellent
- Banner / mural - winged it, but worked
During the Conference
- Setup - everything was done on time
- Registration - well managed
- Attendance - only 60% checked in, sell more tickets?
- Starting - Only ~30% of attendants were there by 9.30
- Talk quality - excellent quality overall
- Hall planning - policy talks could have gone in hall 2 (?)
- Length of conference - 2 days seemed perfect
- Emcee - excellent work by volunteers
- Timers - everything was on time
- Mike runners - Hall 1 was big, but they did a tireless job
- Seating - could have asked people to sit upfront - most people were staying back
- Screen - mostly worked
- Hardware spaces
- Sponsor / partner tables - should we avoid giveaways (?)
- Open spaces - not very accessible
- Flash talks (?) -
- Food - excellent
- Tea / coffee / biscuits
- Water / water cups
- Venue - clean and spacious
- Air-conditioning - was a bit too strong - should have been warmer - maybe people would have asked more questions
- Partner session - could have been managed better
- Closing session
- Audience feedback - (?)
Overall it was super - please add your feedback too!
