Micro donations (10 rupees a month) to build a FOSS fund - would you donate?

I wonder how many people would donate, say a minimum of 10 rupees a month, to some UPI based FOSS fund ?

Our strength is in numbers, and I have fancied this idea for a while. For a while let’s not think of the mechanics of this, technical details and such. Let’s also assume that such micro payments don’t qualify for tax rebates - e.g. 80G.

With that out of the way, here is how you can help:

  1. Would you donate a minimum of 10 rupees a month ?
  2. Can you ask a few (say 5) of your friends, fellow colleagues, FOSS enthusiasts etc this question and get me an answer. If you do this, you’ll have to tell me the rough profile of people you spoke to (students/recently started to work/experienced/teachers etc) and the answers

There have been discussions earlier about memberships, where members had to pay like 1000 Rs or more, but nothing as small as this.

PS1: I would appreciate if you answer only for yourself, as well as anybody you actually asked for opinion.

Just to clarify, I didn’t understand why you specifically mentioned UPI at first glance but I now realize that it’s the recurring payments aspect of UPI that you’re specifically trying to use at scale. Right?

I have written and rewritten longer responses to this forum post for the past hour but I now realize that I need to take time and consolidate my thoughts. When I do, I will share/link them here.

UPI is the most accessible of all methods to transfer money (everyone including students use it). Plus no overheads on even the smallest payments. I wasn’t thinking of the recurring aspects when I wrote the post, but yes, that would be used to make it easy.
