Bio: Computer Science graduate with an interest in Internet infrastructure, networking, Internet governance, and open technologies. I am particularly interested in how community-driven and open technologies can contribute to a more accessible, resilient, and inclusive Internet.
Home community: I am currently developing my connection with the Indian FOSS and digital commons community, with a particular interest in Internet infrastructure, networking, and Internet governance.
Years of association with FOSS/digital commons: Less than 1 year of active engagement with the broader FOSS/digital commons ecosystem.
About my work:
My FOSS/digital commons journey: My interest in the digital commons has developed through my Computer Science background and my growing involvement in Internet infrastructure and Internet governance. During my work and learning in these areas, I became increasingly interested in open technologies, community-driven development, and the importance of an open and resilient Internet. I am still early in my FOSS journey and am looking to contribute more actively to the community.
How and when I came across the FOSS United community: I came across FOSS United while exploring the Indian FOSS and digital commons ecosystem. I was interested in understanding how open-source communities in India are organised and how students and early-career technologists can participate and contribute.
Why I am running for the Governing Board: I am running because I would like to contribute to the Indian FOSS ecosystem while bringing my perspective from Internet infrastructure, networking, and Internet governance. I also want to learn from experienced community members and help make FOSS communities more approachable for students and people who are at the beginning of their journey.
Why would I be a good fit (What prior long-term volunteering experience do you have): I am at an early stage of my involvement with the FOSS community, so I do not want to overstate my experience. My background in Computer Science, networking, Internet infrastructure, and Internet governance gives me a perspective that I hope can complement the existing community. I am committed to learning, contributing consistently, and taking up responsibilities where I can add value.
Things I would like to focus on as a GB member: I would like to focus on increasing participation from students and early-career technologists, making it easier for newcomers to discover and contribute to FOSS projects, and creating stronger connections between FOSS, Internet infrastructure, digital commons, and Internet governance. I would also like to support community initiatives that encourage practical contribution rather than only awareness.
Optional: Anything else you’d like to share with the community. For instance, what impact or change do you want to bring about in the FOSS United or the Indian FOSS community?I am still early in my FOSS journey, but I believe that newcomers should have clear and accessible pathways to participate in open-source communities. I would like to contribute to an environment where students and early-career professionals can move from learning about FOSS to making meaningful contributions. I also hope to bring greater awareness of the connection between open-source software, Internet infrastructure, and the broader digital commons.
