My FOSS/digital commons journey:
Begun with build & release management, then steered a bit with backend engineering and stepped into geospatial world with focus on humanitarian mapping. My interest incluse product leadership, governance, and community stewardship. Please read a high level overview here.
How and when I came across the FOSS United community:
Through a conference opportunity that came up in 2022.
Why I am running for the Governing Board:
To be part of India’s growing open-source ecosystem and support shape its growth.
Why would I be a good fit (What prior long-term volunteering experience do you have):
I believe my hands-on technical experience across backend and product, active mentorship of new contributors, and leadership in distributed multiple open-source projects could be a value addition for the FOSS United community.
Things I would like to focus on as a GB member:
- Current open-source space is heavily English first. I would push for taking FOSS tools, content, and documentation across various regional languages.
- Support long-term operational and community sustainability for Indian open-source projects.
- Expanding mentorship and onboarding frameworks to bring new contributors into the fold.
