Title : United by (Free) Food

Discussion : Anything goes. Free here is free as in “your” food…

It’s a potluck lunch, relax. Each attendee (that’s your entry ticket!) needs to get a dish, which will be shared with everyone. Ideally the dish is home cooked, but we understand if that’s not feasible for everyone. We’ll probably make exceptions for store bought sweets and savouries. Let’s unite the diversity of your food and stories onto our combined table!

The menu will be coordinated on the forum, where we’ll keep track of the actual dish attendees are gonna bring. Quantities shall be discussed and communicated (e.g. typically get a dish for no more than 10 people, if sweets maybe 20 pieces etc). We’d have to stop accepting additions to the potluck at some point in time due to the logistics requirements at the conference.

We won’t keep it secret, but we’ll try to keep it safe ! On the table, we’ll probably just separate veg and non-veg, but that’s about as far as we’ll go during the pot-luck. Feel free to drill down with the makers of the dishes about the exact ingredients, the cooking method, recipes etc.

PS: International attendees may be let in without getting a dish. But we’d appreciate prior notice and confirmation. All that shall be coordinated in the forum.

Free software + Free Food = Better conference !

Scheduling : This is a lunch. Either day 1 or day 2. This can be discussed.

Title : Revitalizing the Bengaluru FOSS United Community

Brief : IndiaFOSS 2025 will have a substantial attendance from the local Bengaluru community. This BoF is intended to be an opportunity to discuss local matters. There are several things we could discuss.

Most importantly, we need more volunteers to run the local chapter. We also need more local volunteers in general to run various activities and initiatives. One of the things I’ve noticed during the monthly meetups is that the repeat audience is low - every meetup has mostly new folks showing up. This means that we have good organic discovery. Lack of repeats probably points to some shortcomings. This BoF will try to understand perspectives of the participants w.r.t any of these things.

Key thing to resolve in this BoF is how do we attract more volunteers and empower them to do their thing in the FOSS United Community. In this BoF we will be discussing solutions (that participants propose) to revitalize the local community. Student, or Pro - we need you bro ! (written to rhyme - all are welcome) If you are looking to volunteer, or have something to say regarding these topics, then this BoF is for you !

Discussion Format : Round Table Discussion. Ideally we’d spend at-least 60% of the time discussing how to make things happen.

Moderator : @Balu_B I am looking for someone else to moderate this. If nobody else takes this up, then I’m happy to take it up as well.

@Shree_Kumar Sir, you beat me to it. I was going to propose it myself after our discussion. I would love to moderate this BOF.

Ah great - thanks ! Just wanted to make sure we don’t miss the deadline, which is tomorrow I guess. I am editing my BoF proposal to make you the mod.

Additionally, the program committee has decided to propose that the panel discussion proposal titled ‘Pursuing a Policy Career in FOSS’ by @Tarunima be converted to a birds of a feather (BoF) discussion. This would be a suitable segue from the Tech+Policy Scholarship BoF proposed by Shree.

The team will reach out to all the seven selected folks by the end of this week to discuss the next steps.

Two more things:

The “Governance BoF” is basically merged into the last session happening on Day 2. It starts at 5 PM. While the schedule shows 1 hr, we are probably gonna extend this till upto 2 hrs depending on how active the crowd is !

And let me plug my potluck here too - get Free Food - meaning “your food” to the potluck. Please post your dish here. A chance to catch up over food with random folks like me ! You don’t have to bring a lot of the dish - just a bit… as explained here:
