Hello FOSS United folks!
For those who are aware about our ‘OS from scratch’ project, they also likely know that we have been working to bring this vision to life for quite some time now.
Announcing the Open Beta
While we undoubtedly still have a long way to go, we are excited to share a major milestone: we are launching an Open Beta of our Operating System next month.
To make testing as simple as possible for the community, we will be releasing it in the form of a Browser-based Sandbox Environment.
How will it work?
The Sandbox will allow anyone to access and explore the OS directly through a web browser. This requires no installation and provides a risk-free environment to test the system’s capabilities.
We believe this is the most efficient way to validate our architecture while keeping things simple for the users.
Why this matters
Building an OS, including a custom kernel, does have its unique set of challenges and we are now at a stage where we are incredibly keen on gaining technical feedback from the community to improve the final product.
We have set up a waitlist to measure the interest and traction for this initiative, and more importantly, to understand what the community expects from a custom-built kernel.
