Be Part of IndiaFOSS 2025: Host a Pre/Side-Event

Every year, thousands of FOSS enthusiasts from across the country travel to Bangalore for IndiaFOSS. The main conference always delivers a stellar lineup, but with so many curious minds gathering in one city, why stop there?

For IndiaFOSS 2025, we’re curating a series of pre/side-events to:

  • complement the main conference,
  • help participants make the most of their annual Bangalore FOSS pilgrimage, and
  • give local communities a chance to shine.

These will include Workshops @ Day 0, the Maintainers Summit, and more. Most of these are planned for Day 0, Sept 19th.

Here’s where you come in:
If you’re a local community or space in Bangalore, we’d love for you to host your own event alongside IndiaFOSS. It could be a workshop, meetup, hack evening, or something experimental, if it’s remotely related to FOSS, we’ll also help promote it.

If you’re interested, please reply here with:

  • Name of your community
  • Event Description and Address
  • RSVP/registration link for your event

Maintainer Summit | 19th Sep | IndiaFOSS

Date: 19th September
Venue: Takshashila / Samagata @ Church Street
Time: 9am-6pm
RSVP: Maintainer Summit 2025

IndiaFOSS 2025 is hosting a Maintainer Summit this year. The Maintainer Summit is a dedicated event for open-source and open-commons maintainers to get together and discuss their perspectives before IndiaFOSS. This is an unconference-style event, which means the schedule of sessions is decided upon by the attendees at the venue.

There will be a few relevant sessions for Indian Maintainers (think sustainability, grants, burnout, community) but the bulk of the schedule will be left open for the attendees.

The organizing team is there to provide the support structure, the maintainers make the summit. This is a maintainer only event. As long as you are a core maintainer for a mid-large open-source or open-commons project, please apply. If you are unsure that you qualify - please apply.

This event is based off the CNCF Maintainer Summit, see the original proposal for more details. Reach out to summit@fossunited.org for any clarifications.

Date: 20 September, 2025. Saturday.
Venue: At NIMHANS Convention Centre
*Room: Devroom 2 (upstairs)
Time: 4pm
How to register: Find us and show up. Bring a laptop if you can.

We will talk about generating music with code. Attendees are welcome to bring their own tools. We will do a show and tell about how music was constructed. Then we jam. The jam will be with strudel as a collaborative editor (logistically easier than allowing different tools).

I’d love to help showcase something with Hydra and Strudel. I’m not very well versed with the tools but we can always play around with it.

Wow, excited for this one.

A ex-colleague used to do similar stuff like generating euclidean rhythms with javascript and similar things. Was amazed by his stuff.

Venue setup!

We’ve ran into a slight problem with the venue. It’s been booked on Friday for an event so we are not allowed to visit before 9PM. This means we can only start setting things up at 9. A bunch of our volunteers will not be able to make it because of the timings, and we are looking for more hands.

Announcing IndiaFOSS setup as a pre-event! Come help us set things up so we can can get done early (and the volunteers get some time to sleep before the conference :))

Reach out to me at Telegram: Contact @anshh28 if you want to help out.
