Call for pre / parallel-events @IndiaFOSS 2026

Building on last year, we are calling FOSS and digital commons communities to join us at IndiaFOSS 2026 as we curate the parallel / pre-events.

Through the IF weekend, thousands of FOSS folks from across the country descend on Bengaluru, talking open-source, complaining about traffic and occasionally remembering to attend a few talks. While the main conference always delivers, the show shouldn’t stop at that?

This is your chance to make the most out of the IndiaFOSS momentum with your community! Host a parallel or a pre-event:

  • complement the main conference,
  • help participants make the most of their annual IndiaFOSS pilgrimage.

If you’re a local community or space in Bangalore, we’d love for you to host your own event alongside IndiaFOSS. It could be a workshop, meetup, hack evening, or something experimental. Think mapping parties, maintainer meetups, movie screenings, networking dinners, potlucks at cubban, karaoke evenings and whatever else you can cook up!

If it’s remotely related to FOSS, we’ll also help promote it.

Proposal to start and organise a “Local First Banglore” chapter event/booth as a pre/parallel event.

We’ve got booths for Tiles, Sol, and Tangled this time around at the conference, all of whom work on local-first, open protocols, and user agency-related technologies. So I think it’d be a great idea to plan and organise a mini event around this and gather interest. Jeremie from Sol is happy to provide his slot on Day 2 for this.

I’m also in touch with Boris, who heads the AT Protocol Community Fund, and Shobhit from Creole Network, a P2P network project, who have expressed interest and can help with volunteering at the booth.

Will post specific asks from the community before this weekend.
