Heya, I am Shivam, I am a developer, been part of frappe for 2 years now. You tried Frappe Framework yet? It is what powers ERPNext and most of the applications we build here, included fossunited.org. I generally work on the UI, adding new features, occasionally on performance.

I like to read history and science. I don’t often write, but when I do, its generally posted here.

Among my vices, the one that most know about is starting projects, buying domains for them only to be abandoned in 2 weeks. This has let me to build a note taking app, website analytics and a bookmarking app, some educational site and a newsletter. Most of the apps work, but none of them work enough!

Hello,

I’m a data professional, currently working for PayPal, interested in the open source space. I’m not as involved hands-on. Hopefully that’ll change in the future.

I’m here to:
a) mine for interesting projects and be a growth partner.
b) find developers to work on some interesting projects.

Please feel free to reach out - ukrizna@umich.edu

Thanks,

Hello, I’m siddhesh and I’ve been working on FOSS projects since about 15 years now. I’m one of the maintainers of the GNU C Library (glibc) and a committer in gcc and binutils-gdb. OpenHub is probably a better reflection of my work than GitHub. My primary interest is compilers, low level programming and CPU architecture.

I also helped run reserved-bit (a makerspace in Pune) for a few years before we had to shut it down and was one of the organizers of a couple of conferences (FUDCon 2015, PyCon Pune 2017 and the cancelled PyCon Pune 2018). I also ran the Pune chapter of kernel meet-up for a few years.

I’m happy to help in whatever way y’all think I can.

Hi @Siddhesh_Poyarekar, good to see you hear. I guess I met you at PyCon Pune 2017 and I visited reserved_bit after the event.

I would love to see more participation from you in FOSS United. Here are couple things that I can think of right now.

  1. Give a talk at next meetup about glibc
  2. There is lot that need to happen in the hardware space. Promoting tinkering, open hardware and stuff. I would love to see discussion around that and I’m sure we can learn a lot from your experience of running reserved-bit

Any more ideas?

Yes, we met at PyCon Pune 2017

Re (1), sure. Would it be more useful if I give an intro to the toolchain ecosystem as a whole, i.e., projects, communities, etc?

Re (2), the hardware ecosystem is quite active and growing quite fast. https://conference.makerville.io/ is probably a good place to get introduced to some of the folks in that ecosystem.

Yep, that sounds good.

Wow, what a wonderful resource. I’ll try to connect with some of the folks there.

Hello all! , I am Vivek Digambernath a Consultant / Developer for Open source business software( 90% Frappe / ERPnext ) in UAE for ~ 10 years.

I am a part time philosopher and an avid history freak and feel Open Source thinking is just a reflection of our once ancient culture of knowledge and information being free.

Off late I been interested in how technology can create the much needed transparency in governance. and increase participation. Imagine common people being able to join a party using an app, hold discussions on relevant matters in an Upvote like forum and their representatives being obliged to simply execute the decision. And platforms to be used for such use cases should be from the Open Source space.
